ISIKOZA is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) founded to advance the education of the general public in jazz and popular music through inspiring, inclusive, and high‑quality programmes.
ISIKOZA was established in response to a growing need for accessible, engaging music education focused on jazz and popular genres in Stoke‑on‑Trent and the surrounding region. Our founders—musicians, educators, and community advocates—shared a vision of a vibrant, creative hub where people of all backgrounds could explore, learn, and perform.
We believe that music, especially jazz and popular music, has the power to connect people, foster creativity, and build confidence. Our programmes are designed to break down barriers, making music education welcoming to everyone, regardless of prior experience.
To advance the education of the general public in the appreciation and understanding of music, with special emphasis on jazz and popular music, through live performances, workshops, training, and performance opportunities.
We aim to make jazz and popular music accessible, inspiring, and relevant to contemporary audiences.
A world where everyone has the opportunity to engage with jazz and popular music—whether as a listener, learner, or performer—and where these art forms are recognised as vital components of cultural and personal development.
We envision a thriving, interconnected community of musicians and music lovers across Stoke‑on‑Trent and beyond.
We design our programmes to be creative, inclusive, and skill‑building. Each workshop, masterclass, or performance is crafted with the following principles in mind:
We welcome participants of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Our sessions are structured to be supportive and non‑intimidating, ensuring that everyone can contribute and grow.
We work with industry professionals and academically trained musicians who are passionate about education. Our facilitators are not only skilled performers but also experienced teachers who know how to inspire.
We actively partner with local schools, community venues, and arts organisations to extend our reach and strengthen the cultural fabric of Stoke‑on‑Trent and surrounding cities.
ISIKOZA collaborates with a wide range of organisations and individuals to deliver our programmes effectively. Our partners include:
