Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to read music to join a workshop?

Not necessarily. Many of our beginner‑friendly workshops are designed to be accessible without sheet‑music literacy. We use aural learning, demonstration, and simple notation (chord charts, tab) where helpful. If a specific workshop requires reading, it will be clearly indicated in the description.

Can beginners really join an improvisation workshop?

Absolutely. Our Introduction to Jazz Improvisation is specifically crafted for complete beginners. We start with simple call‑and‑response, basic scales, and rhythmic games that make improvisation feel natural and fun. The emphasis is on creativity, not technical perfection.

What should I bring to a workshop?

For instrumental workshops, bring your instrument (if portable). We provide pianos, drum kits, and amplification as needed. For theory or songwriting sessions, just bring a notebook and pen. We’ll supply any handouts or materials. Comfortable clothing and an open mind are always recommended!

Are there age restrictions?

Most of our workshops are for ages 16+, but we also run family‑friendly sessions and youth‑focused programmes. Check the specific programme details for age guidance. If you’re under 16 and keen to participate, please contact us to discuss options.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

We offer a full refund if you cancel at least 7 days before the workshop start date. Within 7 days, we can usually transfer your booking to another workshop or issue a credit. Please see our Terms of Use for detailed cancellation policy.
